Default 1998 Neon alternator fried

The alternator in my wifes 98 Neon crashed and burned this morning. Man, they dont give those away do they? I had to change one out of a 95 before and as I remember it was a real pain in the ***. Oh boy, I just cant wait!

Yes its a huge pain in the ***. Especially if you have power steering and everything still on there. Its easier to pull it off when the top end of my motor is off.

Reman alternator in. It was $129 with a $72 core charge on top of that. I swear, the biggest pain in the dick is getting the tensioner loose enough to get the belt back on. To take it off, all you have to do is take the support bracket bolts out and the tensioner nut off of the alternator. But, its in and running fine. Another crisis averted.

I would be Fuct if i had to change my alternator. for some reason one of the lugnuts on my RT is messed up that i cant get any thing to grip it. I will end up having to drill out the stud and breaking it loose. strange though my other RT has the same lugnut on it? whats the deal with that?

Must have something to do with how the factory torqued the lugs onto the RT. That, or maybe they used **** lugs from some cheap manufacturer.

Took me about 40 minutes to drop in my new alternator. Loose the accessories. Race cars are not for comfort
