Huge 1996 Dodge Neon Problem
This is the deal my brothers 1996 Dodge Neon is not working properly.
Evidently the protective layer over the ECU [The Computer] worn away.
Thus the heat from the ignition coil damaged the ECU. They replaced
the ECU and ignition coil and the problem is worse. The car suddenly just
cuts out and the service engine light is on still.
We orginally brought the car to the mechanic because it was ocassionally
cutting out, but getting worse. Another thing of note the service engine
light was on for years. We stupidly ignored the light.
My question does the replacement ECU need to be programmed ? or is there
another thing the mechanic is overlooking ?

You can try checking the codes here

see what they are and then post what you are getting.

Thanks for the response. But the car is back at the mechanic's shop.My dad was lucky he was
able to get it back there last night. As it was constantly dying [ It died three straight times].
I would assume the mechanic has the same OBD numbers you linked to. Also I have no
access to getting those OBD numbers anyway. I was just tying a shot in the dark as my dad
already dumped 900.00 into this car.

i dont know if you got your problem fixed or not.. but my neon did the same thing.. i had two wires underneith where the 2nd o2 sensor is touching the pipe.. this was cause all my problems. i was blowing fuses after trying to restart. check that..
