Default atx problems

My car is slipping horribly, revs up but will only do 10mph in drive,1,2 runs fine in reverse and now leaks fluid badly. the leak started before the problem but my friends forgot[sm=headbang.gif] to tell me about the fluid that leak all over their driveway till after i said my cars tranny went. anyway is there anyhope of fixing this ? and what are some decent prices for a junkyard atx? and a reman atx? i have been too pissed to even look at the car yet and i wanted to get some prices before i start tearing it apart

ok finally took a look at it today and a previous owner had used clear silicone on the dif cover and part of the pan, and it all melted and/or fell apart. so if the tranny is just really really low on fluid would it cause the drive problems? and could have any worse damage been done in the less than 1/2 mile it was driven in that condition?

Yes and yes. Fill it up before you leave. The fluid is what makes your car move. Without it you will lose all the gears completely. It also is used to cool the tranny. Its hard on it. Keep driving it your goi9ng to burn it up, but within a few miles it shut stop moving before that happens.

I'd suggest dropping the pan and replacing the gasket and filter before you drive it again. This way you arent wasting, dripping fluid all over the place.
