I have a 99 neon automatic. And whenever it shifts into 3rd gear it slips. I checked the fluid and its full and clean. I also put some tranny additive in and it did nothing. It does this all the time, not just when its cold. And it doesnt slip on any other shift. Could someone please help.

How many miles are on the car? I would have the trans serviced.

 

it only has 45028 miles on it

 

I would say to bring it to a trans shop and have them do a service on it. I am not sure of the price, maybe $100 or $200, but have them do the filter, fluid and ajust the bands. If the car has not been driven hard, and nothing is actually broken, that should fix the problem.
