Default sohc to dohc

k so i 2.4 idea got thrown out the window, although i would love to do the swap, i dont have the time nor the money right now and i need my car running again.

so i plan an just putting a DOHC motor in it.

I have a 95 sohc right now.

when i buy the dohc motor, do i need the wiring harness and computer for the year of the motor or the year of my car? I have searched and read people say both ways, so help me out.

Since my car is a 95, what motor/harness, would be the easiest to swap? Because i know a couple years have some differences in the sensors and what not.

Also do i need to replace the head gasket too.

if anybody has any info that would be great. or even an accutally how to rather then info on the swap.

thanks

im not dumb. i have read that before and even in that it says:

"II. DOHC PCM of the same year as your car" then right below it is says:

"Make sure the wiring harness will work with your car. If you have a 96+ engine, you need a 96+ harness. "

that is why i was asking cause it is confusing.

since your car is a 95, you could:
just get a 95 dohc pcm and it would be easier to get a 95 dohc engine harness...
or
get any year dohc pcm, the engine harness to match that year, and the complete engine bay wiring harness to match that year
