well that all depends on ur climate ....sounds funny but its true..i can tesify..i kno painting up home in PA is completly different than painting here in NC...it has to do with the air and warmer climates ...where do u live ...my suggestion to u is to go to ur local body shop and ask him the same question he paints in ur climate everyday ..hed kno wat works best for where u live

o sry and as for sanding ull need a DA sander a roll of 180 grit sand paper.(ticky pads is wat ive always use works good)..ull also need a roll of 150 grit....use the 150 first and take the clear coat off the paint..you can use the 150 to ruff up the paint but i dont suggest it.. its alil to coarse and might make some pretty deep scratchs if u try ....change to the 180 grit and sand the rest out ...its ok to go to the metal with the 180 grit just make sure ur sanding evenly use the whole surface of the sander and make sure that u dont have it turnd up to high...b absolutly sure u have all the old clear coat off cuz if u dont when u paint it the new paint will eat at the clear and create bubbles and then its a pain..ya gotta start all over agian an u jsut wasted time and money some factory primers also do this ...its just up to u whether or not you wanna risk it ..for me i always sand it down as far as i can ...the more bare metal the better ..the primer will stick really well..if ur paints plastics do the sanding and u can use a bond adhensive it comes in like a spray can ...it basically fuses the primer to the plastic and makes a good rugged finish ...reduces spider cracks ...for both applications if one want you can use a finer grit paper ...or feel free to wet sand...use 410 grit wet sand paper and hot water...some people use hot soapy water ..i never have never really saw the benifit in it ...the more time u put into sanding the better the paint job will turn out..goodluck...any thing else u need let me kno ill b glad to help ..ive done this a time or 2 haha used to work in a body shop

Sanding.......short hard block, long 2 hand block-maybe 12 inches long if I remember correctly. Orbital if you like for cutting down areas fast.

Priming - $80 home depot Husky gun, atleast that was when I bought one (dont know what they are now)

I like using Omni's 2k Urethane Sufacer.

That is all I have for a reply, what kind of vehicle is this contraption that is needing bodywork?

What kind of finished product are you looking to achieve here?
