Default tap knocking noise

ight well, i had a funny noise for a long time and would like to do something about it, i think its my valves making that tapping noise which i hope it is, does that mean i have to adjust the valves? if so does any one knows the specs for it? i have a feeler gauge if that needs to be used for it, i know how to use it, i do it on my toyota alot, but would like to know the specs for the intake and the exhaust valves.

More than likely it's your lifters making the tapping noise...not your valves. If the ticking increases with RPMs, then that is your possible culprit.

You can take a look at your lifters and see if any are cracked or possibly loose.

check to make sure your spark plugs are tight. air might get around them makes same sound. one of mine got lose and i thought it was the same thing. never figured that would ever happen though. i was told by firestone that my head was warped and it would cost 1200 to fix, turns out a spark plug needed a turn of the wrench when i started messin with stuff.
