Post removing of the cat?

I was wondering on the 98 r/t if you remove the cat and put in a piece of pipe there would it throw an engine signal?

It won't throw a code. As long as the O2s are still in spot. You can get a long tube header that very thing, passes past where the Cat is. So, yeah a tube, race cat or long tube header will work without a code.
