I have a 1995 Dodge Neon, i just rebuild the engin and everything works no CEL or anything.. The only problem I have is that the speedometer dosnt work. I have changed the VSS and the cluster.. no luck. It stoped working before I rebuilt the motor and I drove it like that for a long time. It came off and on and when I take out the vss the thing that turns, the some of the teeth were messed up on it. I am not sure why or what not. I can drive down the road and i can get it up to 10mph and thats it. can somebody help me?!??!?!? I dont want to drive untill i get this fixed so i can see how many miles i have on the new engin and when I need to do oil change and so on.. if anyone can help me please do!!!!

 

Just wondered if you ever got this fixed, and if you did, what the fix was? My speedometer is doing this too, so I go by the tach for speed, but I would like to fix it.

 

Look at the top of the neon forum. There is a sticky on how to fix your gauges. That fixes 90% of spedo problems.

 

i just beat mine then when i take off hard it goes down instead of up just keep hitting it...

 

Yea my dads 95' Neon does the same thing and all we do is push on the clear outside cover and they tach turns right on.

 

Guys, its bad solders, just take it apart and resolder the connections. It would probbaly cost you $20 at radio shack and an hour of easy work.

 

yeah ... i had teh exact same problem .. my dad owns a garoge so all i had 2 do was take teh spidomiter out *pull the dash up and tehre 4 screws* and on teh back theres two groups of sodering points that u just have to re soder .. i dont have teh picture of where there at but there is one because i had it off this site befor but yeah anyway it takes less then 5 minuts to soder then u just put it back 2geather and its as good as new

 

i have tried to do this to mine like 8-10 times and it still does not work?

 

Could also be a bad vehicle speed sensor or bad wiring.

 

none of the guages work. just the other day they haven't worked in over 2 weeks and they worked for 228 miles then quit again. i have no cluse


any body have one for sale?
