timing question
when i took my timing belt of i did it the way jeff ball did on
http://jball.neons.org/howto/timing_belt/howto.html
after that i replaced the headgasket too. the head is back on but the cams arent yet in.
now do i just tighten the cams down and put the timing belt where i marked it at. or do i need to do the 3 teeth before TDC crap? also i plan on installing the litens mecanhical tensioner as well.
it a DOHC

you need to go through the whole process. I just did it for the first time when I replaced my engine. The cams will slightly move when the belt is off and you need to do the 2 notches btdc thing to take the slack out of the belt when you reinstall it. You would hate to put it all back together and have the timing off 1/2 a tooth and have to take it all back apart to re-time the engine because you did not want to spend the time to do it right.
my waterpump keeled out on my on tuesday n i had to retime the car. trust me, with an interference motor you dont want to short change anything. go through the entire process cuz u could scrap the engine cuz u decided to skip a step.
