Default couple questions

first off, like to say hi, just found you guys and liked your community here.

now, i just purchased a 96 dodge neon sport coup 5speed man sohc. it has 80k miles, but im not sure whats all in the engine(didnt take pictures and dont pick it up till next friday)
so i was wondering what should i do for preformance upgrades, but still be able to drive it regularly on city and highway. I should have anywhere between 1 and 4k to spend on enhancments, but wont find out for another day or so.
What i was thinking of doing is this:
Iceman Cold Air Intake
MPx Under Drive Pulley (is it needed though?)
AEM Adjustable Cam Gear (again, is it needed?)
MOPAR Preformance PCM (same question as the last)
APEXi Turbo Timer
either a Hahn Racecraft Stage 2 SOHC Turbo, or a Chill Factory Intercooled Turbo Kit for SOHC (dont know which one is better?)
I was curious if you think i should upgrade the flywheel and clutch, but i have no idea what to do with them, and wondering if i shoud add a new exhaust?
If you think naything should be added please say, and the the final question, is there anyway to get like a manual or a tutorial to install all these parts? i really dont wanna screw anything up.

oh, and of course, here are two pics of the car

Thanks again!

Default RE: couple questions

I would recommend a cam 12. This cam profile features our unique “Split Duration” lobe profile design (exhaust duration is less than intake duration). “Spools” turbo faster for quicker boost and response. Reduces turbo “lag-time”. Strong upper mid-range and top-end HP when turbo boost is applies. For Max HP and RPM use intercooler and low restriction intake and exhaust systems.
RPM range: 1,500 - 6,800
If u get a cam I would also recommend valve springs.

I would also recommend a 60mm throttle body (especially if your going turbo). Booger bushings will also help.

MPx Under Drive Pulley: Not necessary but it will help a little. I have the AFX underdrive pulley (which is like the
Unorthodox Racing Under Drive Pulley from Modern Performance). This was the first mod I put on my car. I didn't really feel a difference in power. I would still recommend a underdrive pulley (so does Modern Performance).

AEM Adjustable Cam Gear: Again not necessary but, it will help. With this u can adjust the timing of the cam. I would only get this after u upgrade your cam.

MOPAR Preformance PCM: A must have, especially for the price. These will increase your top speed and horsepower. The stock PCM's are limited around 120 (atleast for the 2nd Gen Neons like mine). I wish I could get the Mopar PCM but they haven't came out with one for the 2nd Gen Neons yet. I would have to get the PCM from Howell which is $375+150 dollars core charge=525 dollars. Rip-off. Plus they only sell used cores that are reprogrammed.
I think Mopar's are new w/ out core charge (correct me if I'm wrong).

APEXi Turbo Timer: The Apex Auto Timer allows the vehicle to idle for a preset amount of time after the ignition key has been removed. In turbocharged vehicles this prevents hot oil in the engine from coking up in the lines. Hard driving can raise engine oil temperatures to dangerously high levels.
Proper cool down is essential for a healthy turbo and engine. In normally aspirated cars, the Auto Timer can also be used to warm/cool the inside of the car without having to sit inside. I don't think u could go wrong with this if u get a turbo. It's only around $95 (it's not a bad investment).

I've heard good things about the Chill Factory turbo systems. I've never heard of Hahn.

U need to upgrade your exhaust system. That should be one of the first things u do to upgrade your car.

A flywheel will improve your rpm-performance. I don't think it's necessary but that will also help. U could get a clutch if u want; that will also help. If u drive hard a performance clutch/heavy duty, will probably last longer.

Sometimes new parts/upgrades come with manuals and sometimes they don't. There are books for upgrading Neons out there.

Basically every UPGRADE will help and majority isn't needed. If u have the extra money and u want to spend it, go for it.
