Default Whining noise from intake....

I recently just replaced the head gasket on my 96 SOHC Highline. I heard a whining noise from the #4 intake port, when ever I hit around 2300 rpm. I do have a bad EGR and no vacuum lines are connected to the EGR. Can somebody give me a clue on what it could be please?

How can you tell its from the #4 intake port? And by whining does it whine or whistle? Also more importantly, when does it do this, at idle, at WOT or while revving? Does the sound change during any of these events???

Maybe try a leak-down or compression test and check your vacuum at idle with a gauge...

I can tell thats its coming from the #4 intake because when i hold a stethascope to it, its the only port thats making a noise. it only does it while revving, and the sound stays the same.

It is back by the 4th cylinder, but if siphons off the exhaust, not intake. If it's stuck anyways, just replace it. If you block the EGR, the ECM will know and throw alarms, I know cuz I did it and got sick of the alarm, plus, I didn't notice any change in performance. Hell if it doesn't fix it, just return it and say you didn't install it cuz you didnt need it!
