Default Need help! No spark...

hi guys, first off im new here...and ive got an auto 97 sohc neon.

alrite heres my problem...

the other day i drove over some water in some pretty hard rain...the car started to stall so i pulled over and shut it off...pushed it home and let it sit a few days.so then i go back out try and start it and NOTHING...ok so i start doing a few tests...

1.took out the plugs they were fine
2.check for hydrolocking...it was clean
3.patted down the wires and coil
4.checked for power on the connector for he coil...BINGO!

there was no power from the connector.this is were i need help...were does that wire come from? i check quickly and i think it was from some sort of comp. by the fender...a big silver one.

Because you said it happened in the rain I am going to assume its the cps. Crankshaft positioning sensor. I would pull it out, clean it up, clean out the plug. Re-install it and see if that helps. If thats not it I would check coil pack, timing, and then camshaft sensor.

not sure on the coil pack, ill check that out too as soon as i get a hold of a multimeter...

hmm ill check out the cps...would that cause the ignition to not work though? ill turn it over and theres no spark at all from the ign. wires or the coil connector...

Yes. If the cps is not working you wont get to signal for spark.

Alrite update:

- checked cps - was covered with oil...cleaned it off tried to start it and no luck =(.

- checked fuel delivery and its gettin gas...

- got some check engine light codes :

Before restart:12 - 42 - and 32

erased em then all i got was: 12 "direct batt. Input to pcm was disconnected the last 50 cycles"

not sure what that means? Gonna check crank sensor and the ign. Coil tommorow...and follow all the way back i guess...=(

ok this is going to sound strange but it happened to me same way, after two days of cussing, on a hunch ( and desperation ) checked the fuel pump fuse under the hood in the rely box, it was blown, changed it and fired right up, turns out if it blows pcm shuts down the ignition system. Look for bare wire on the pump, that's what shorted me out

Update!

Got ahold to all data and its helped me tons...

-coil connector is good! Theres voltage.

-so plugs,ign. Wires,coil,connector,pcm,asd relay,and cam/crank sensors are good.lol

-but...im not getting signal from the sensors...so im pretty sure i ran over the water and the sensor circuit wires might have shorted.

Its a fact the if neihter sensors work or the asd relay, it will cut spark and fuel! Dont u guys just love working on cars lol.so im off to check thru all the damn circuit wires with a test light...
