Default How TO Install A Tachometer In a Neon

hello Guys im new in this, and i got a 98 sohc neon, i bought a tachometer but iunno how to install it, i dont know where i got to take the signal for the tach, sum body told me from the coil, but dosent work... Any1 know??

Red wire = tach power
Blue wire = tach light
Green = tach (RPMs) splice this with the stock tach wire
Black = ground

the shift light work like the tach?? cuz i wanna a shift light so i take the same signal that i will use for the tach??

ROFL! I think what he is asking is, the tach he bought has a shift light and if he splices into the one on the car would the one on the tach light up.

If that is the question, I would say by experience no, usually the aftermarket shift lamp is controlled by a chip, sometimes called a pill that would read the tach from the aftermarket gauge to turn the shift lamp on.

did it have a tach to begin with? otherwise you could hook it to the coil with a tach driver

hahahah sorry.... i was meaning this... i got the shift light no a tach i was asking that cuz i think the tach use the same signal than the shift light, now u understand?

no i do not believe that will work. summit and jegs sell drivers for shiftlights
