Default weird happening

Alright, this started a week or so ago. After i start my car, i go to leave and when i really get on the gas, right after i shift into third i noticed my speedo gauge was at zero. All of a sudden it went straight up to 50 (the actual speed is was going) and my seatbelt light chimed and. Then it happened again lasast night and i noticed that my lights flash too and all my gauges go to where they should be. Could this be a bad battery or a short in one of the cable? than?

This happend to me when I first bought my car 2 years ago (96 neon). It freaked me out at first!! I thought my car was dying and I had just got it. It was under 3-month warranty and they fixed it for me. All my gauges went down to 0 and they flicked back only in the afternoon when the weather got warmer. I had to take it to the shop 3 different times because the first 2 they couldnt find anything wrong. The 3rd time it was early morning (very cold outside) and finally they were like oh yeah there is something wrong here...Im not exactly sure what they did to fix it though

Most likely the solders on the back of the gauge cluster are bad. 1st gen neons are notorious for this. Just resolder the connections on the back of the cluster. There was a post a while back with a diagram of which ones went. If I can find it I will link it.
