I would think so as an R/T is basically an ACR with all the comfort goodies that add weight.

IIRC, the motors are the same with the same tranny, just different suspension components and the acr has bigger hubs. the 95? acr also had no speed limiter IIRC.

Biggest difference between the two cars is the suspension. The R/T only came with a manual transmission with a DOHC engine whether it was a 2 or 4 door. The ACR coupe also came with the DOHC engine, but the sedan came with a SOHC engine in it. The ACR came with adjustable struts (95-96 came with Arvins, 97-99 came with Black Konis). The ACR also came with the fog light bumper but with no fog lights and has the side/door molding removed.

Essentially the same car. As stated, seperate by suspension. Both should have been 2.4L from the factory, and the sohc acr sedan should have had 2.0L dohc pistons IMHO.

Problem with that would have been pricing. Remember the car was supposed to be a cheap car you could race.

True. Well they made the swaps fairly straight forward, without a lot of fab work.

so the acr is deff. better than the r/t in autocross but the r/t would still be good. but arent ACR's more rare than an r/t cause i cant find any on craigs list around me.

There were less ACRs made than R/Ts. Don't get caught up in what is different about the different models. Just about any of them could have options added or deleted. I have a 98 R/T that has no power with stripes, but you get an R/T with all power and deleted stripes.
