Default '95 Neon door will not close in cold weather

Hi all,

Does anyone have an idea about what's going on here? It doesn't matter how hard you slam the door it still will not latch. I even moved the striker out as far as it will go. I hope someone on here has experienced this problem, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Dodge Forum

the latch in the door is sticking open push the latch on the door down and that should solve your problem on getting it closed you can try spraying wd-40 or liquid wrench on it to keep it from sticking open

Disassembled the latch, I think the spring the actuates the latch catch fell out of its groove. It was also pretty gummed up inside; old grease and grime. Lost the spring while taking the back plate (the plate that the actuating rods attach to). Lucky I have a parts car. Thanks to all who gave some input and thanks dodge forum for being here.
