Default '98 neon SOHC

Is it easy to change the fuel tank straps ? I see the bolt on one end and can't see the other end. Is there a bolt on both ends ?
Thanks,
Marty

there is only one bolt on each, the other side slides into some slits in the frame.

Default Tank straps....

Just what I thought, thanks. Is it necessary to slide the tank rearward to get those slotted ends in / out ? I can order replacements at Autozone for $22 each but have a good stock of metal and knowledge of welding.
Thanks again ! Great forum !

Easiest to drop the tank, since those parts are rotted and get stuck in there so easy. Just make sure theres no gas in the tank so you can put it back up with ur hand.

Default Thank you...

As quick as I get the $$ I'll get 2 new straps. I need to replace the fuel filler neck as I have repaired it twice and am running out of stuff to repair. I'm getting a bit of restriction when filling at the pump. I have to pump the fuel into the tank very slowly.

if you have the car jacked up high enough, you can use a jack to hold the tank in place and dislodge the ends of the straps without moving the tank at all

Default Thakn you spudsterier...

Will tackle this little doozie pretty soon. I want to locate a fuel filler neck and hope to do both at the same time.
