97 Neon high beams will not work. Low beams work fine but lights go off when I try to put the high beams on. Also the dome light does not come on unless I turn them on manually with the light switch and the radio looses the clock and station it was set on when the car is turned off. Any ideas what these issues may be?

 

is the radio aftermarket? if so then it is wired wrong,
for headlights try first to replace the switch with a working one, possably a friends car or someone you know.

for the dome light check the 2black button switches on the door frame. wiggle them around and you may get an electric chatter and dome may flicker. replace the switches. hard to find good working ones. when you do find some grease the **** out of them with white lilitium greese packing as much as you can inside and squeeze out the excess.

 

Sorry should have been a little more clear... The radio is not an after market. It is original equipment.

Also what switch are you referring to for the headlights? The one you pull to turn the lights on or the one that is in the turn signal to switch to high beams?

I'll check the door switch for the dome light and see if that helps....

it would be the turn signal switch, but first, i would check the bulbs, the bulb has two filaments in it, one it uses for low beam, the other it uses for high beams.

 

I changed the headlight bulbs this weekend and the brights are working now. Still don't understand why they did not work before but they are now... Still can't get the dome light to come on unless the key is turned on. That does not make sense to me. Also the clock and radio are still loosing the settings when the key is turned off. Any idea what would cause that?
