2.0 stroker??
is the block for a neon the same as the block in a stratus 2.4? i really want a 2.4 badly and i was wondering if i can use the 2.4 rods to make my 2.0 a 2.4 since the bore is the same on the two motors... if that'll work then i'll just buy some stock 2.4 rods and a 2.4 oil pan and a 2.4 crank. maybe oil pump? and sump?
2.4L internals will not fit inside a 2.0L. The 2.4L block construction differes greatly from the 2.0L. The 2.4L is taller, hence the longer 2.4L rods. Besides, the 2.4L block is very affordable. Got mine for $100.
ok thanks alot for clearing that up for me i've done alot of research but never really got the answer. so i can get a 2.4 block for cheap? then what? do i have to get the 2.4 internals or can i use mine? i know i'll need the 2.4 crank correct?
the block, crank, pistons and rods are compleltey different from the 2.0 to the 2.4 so u cant interchange parts. also its not the rod that gives u more displacement its the crnkshaft and its "stroke" hence the term "stroker motor" or "kit". the 2.0 has a 83mm stroke while the 2.4 has a 101 mm stroke.

When you buy the black, it "should" be complete. You should still see the pistons inside the cylinder. Many people get them juck yard, and take them to machine shop to have them checked and cleaned. Cost around $300, depnding on what you are using. Are you building a naturally aspirated 2.4L or a turbo'd 2.4L.In any case, read this:

Now, you can stroke the 2.0 to a 2.2. with a .50mm oversize bore and the stroker kit from Howell Automotive. You will have to grind down the inside of the block under each cylinder to make sure the crank can spin freely. It is a special order item and will take a 6-8 weeks to recieve...well, from what I hear about howell is you gotta wait atleast that long for parts from them.
you know i've looked at that kit and thought about it but whats the point of stroking to a 2.2 when you can very easily and for a fair amount less just swap in a 2.4 and do some mild work to that...
