i have a 1997 neon and for a few months i heard a knocking sound in the front tire area a little bit after that when i was driving it the tranny wouldnt shift untill 3-4 on the rpm gadge not to long after that my car doesnt even move when i have it in drive but when i put it in reverse the car shifts with no problem and it starts to move can any one tell me what could be wrong.

 

i hate to tell you but it sounds like the forward gears went out....theres a good posibility that it needs rebuilt. check the fluid tho....if its burnt its junk

 

sounds bad, check the fluid for metal flakes
