Default Starter and Fuel Pump

Any advice on replacing the starter on a SOHC 95 Neon. Starter from the top or bottom easier. For the fuel pump do I have to drop the tank or can I cut a hole in the trunk floor. Advice appreciated.

As for the starter, I recommend putting a block on your floor jack under the oil pan, removing the engine front motor mount bolt (front meaning passenger side of car - front of engine) and the front motor mount bolt (front of car) so you can raise and lower the motor to easily get the starter out from the bottom. Took me about 15 minutes.

As for the fuel pump, dude, don't hack up your car. If the tank is almost empty, it is a breeze. If it is full, drain it, then it is a breeze. Just a couple of bolts to lower the tank and bada boom - access to the pump is easy. While you are at it, replace the fuel filter. Since it is a 1995 model, it is the only one with an external filter you can easily replace while you are doing the pump.

Yeah, I was thinking about the fuel guage sending unit when I said you have to drop the tank. The pump and filter are easy to replace without much work - and especially without cutting up the car.

Starter is in, I took the cooling fans out to make more room, four bolts and unplug two wires.
