Yeah I bought a scanner years ago and it's been a major money saver, mostly for other people who always want to borrow it though.

I have a Mac tools code reader, but they are no codes. I replaced the ignition switch still wont start. I am probably going to have to have it towed to a shop with a proper scanner to check all the sensors. I have checked all the power cables, grounds, battery terminals everything is clean and tight. 12.6V at the starter I don't know it's mostly like the crank sensor but I don't want to buy it if its not it because I can't return it if thats not what it is.

Have you pulled the crank sensor and waved a heavy metal object (like a heavy screwdriver) near it while connected to a multimeter to see if the readings change as they should? I believe the correct voltage readings should go from +5v to +0.5v.

The Haynes manual gives a better explanation of how to do it, but it is a simple check. The hard part is getting up under the car and getting the sensor out, but it is just one bolt.

I just pulled the crank sensor out. The entire thing was covered in oil, the plug was full of dirt and oil and the actual sensing part was covered with burnt oil. I cleaned it and hooked an omh meter to it, but I could not get any reading at all. I tried it on all three pronges no reading at all. I assume that means it has gone bad.

I have spent the last little while checking all the wires and everything I can think of. I have power at the starter, I also checked and I have power at the neutral safety switch when its in park. I turned the key to the on position and I unplugged the coil pack and put a test light on all the pronges in the plug and there is no power at any of the pronges. I would think there should be power to at least one of, or will it only get power when the engine is turning over. I don't have a clue which way to head with this now. Good battery, power to starter but something is not allowing it to turn over.

Checking the crank sensor without voltage to the correct pin on the sensor you will not get the reading. I'm having a non start issue also and have replaced and checked the crank sensor as the Haynes book describes and it works, with power to it. I've checked spark ,fuel, timing etc. and still nothing. turns over fine, will not start.

Mine will not turn over at all. I checked the crank sensor with an omh meter I understand I should have a reading of 200-500 but I can't seem to get anything.

By the book put, a pin in the gray and black wire (orange on the left, black bluestripe middle, Gray blk on the right. Looking up at the CS from under the car.) allegator clamp to the pin, common to ground, ignition to run (on) and crank the engine by hand, socket in the crank pully CW. If the CS is working you should see a reading in volts from +.05 to 5 as the crank rotates.

Put a remote starter on the starter nothing happened. Taped the starter a few times and it started. Starter has a dead spot Changing it tomorrow night. Never seen a bad starter act like that before, no click nothing at all. Well at least it was not to serious.
