Default 96 Neon Bucks in First Gear

I've got a 96 Neon with 5-speed manual transmission that I've had for a few months now, and it's been running fine. Starting a couple days ago, it bucks as I pull away from a stop in first gear, like the clutch is slipping or something. I thought maybe I wasn't revving it enough first, but revving it higher just makes it buck harder. Once it picks up a little speed, it smooths out, and the other gears seem fine at all times.

I'm guessing broken teeth on the first gear, or maybe first gear isn't getting pushed firmly into place so it's able to slip. Does that makes sense, or does anyone have any other ideas, or ways I could determine where the problem is short of tearing into the tranny? Thanks!

I'd sure prefer to have it be something like a sensor; but how would that make it buck like this in first gear, while I can pull away from a dead stop smoothly in second gear?
