Angry Rattling front doors - PLEASE HELP

I recently upgraded the stereo in my car and now both of my front doors are rattling like a S.O.B! My stereo upgrade was nothing fancy, just an Alpine system with 16 watts RMS. No ultra fancy speakers either, just Alpine to fit in the factory size 6" for the doors and 6"x9" for the package shelf. (I can list the model numbers of the receiver and speakers if needed.) It has significantly more bass than the stock system did, and I'd guess that's the problem. I've isolated the problem to the window crank mechanism on both of the front doors, but am unsure of what I can do to stop the rattling. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated! It's driving me crazy listening to music and hearing that rattle!

You may be having the same problem I do. The buzzing sound in my two front doors is caused by the window crank mechanisms. The crank spindle apparently has a spring that once it unwinds, will rattle and buzz like a B#$%^.

One quick way to know if it is them is to hit the window crank with your fist at the point where the handle connects to the spindle. If you hear it buzz and rattle, there is your problem.

The only way to fix it is to replace the entire crank assembly which includes not only the crank spindle but the cables and tray that holds the window too as the crank mechanism cannot be separated from the rest and comes as a package part.

If that is not your problem, then you may have some loose parts inside the door that you can fix by taking off the interior panel and plastic sheild.

Yeah, it's definitely the window crank mechanism. I was hoping that there was an easy inexpensive fix, but I guess not. I'm going to pull the door panel back off of one side during spring break next month and see what I can do. If I can get something to work there I'll duplicate it on the other side. There has to be something easier than replacing the whole damn assembly! Thank you for your input, I'll keep what you said in mind if all else fails.

If you do find a better way, let me know as I have not yet completed my repairs either even though I got a set of window crank mechs. from a fellow on the forum, I just haven't taken the time to put them in.

Sure, I'll let you know. I don't care if it takes all 9 days of my spring break, I'm GOING to find a way to make it stop AND have the windows operational too.

Talking

I completely understand. While I am not an audiophile, I do get seriously sick of hearing the F@#$@ @#$ racket now and then...... Sometimes I can ignore it, but other times (like when my head is about to explode), it is all I can do not to rip the @#@#% doors off my car, toss them on the street and drive off.
