We bought a neon for our son,who will be driving shortly. It's a 1998, with a 1996 engine that was put in it. The engine ran before it was put in. Now we're not getting power going to the coil. Any suggestions would be great. My husband is not real good with these type of things.

 

How was this determined?

Is he getting power to the injectors? If you have no power to neither the coil pack or injectors, then the ASD relay is not working or is not energized. The relay is located in the PDC box just behind the battery.

 

Also what harness and PCM is in the car now?

 

Will check coil pack and injectors tomorrow. The PCM is a 1996 just like the engine. The harness was there already, so we're not sure of that. He said he checked the ASD and that seemed fine. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. This is not his forte. We're trying to get this running for the twins to drive. He got hurt at work and is trying to get this running before he has to go back to work. Or maybe not. LOL Thanks for any help you can give us. It's greatly appreciated.

Checked all fuses, put a 1996 computer on it to go with the 1996 engine. Have power to that now. Bought a new coil, didn't fix it. The wiring harness is from a 1998. The sensors are probably from a 1998. Would that matter? There is a lot of things in the trunk of the car. Changed the cam and crank sensor. Still no spark from the plugs. We're lost.
