Default Black Box UNDER INTAKE?

I have a 1996 dodge neon with a black box under the intake. It looks like it is for crank case ventilation. There are no hoses attached to the two hose nipples on this box and there is oil splattered about the engine compartment. Where are the hoses supposed to go?
The car runs great when idling, but after driving and applying the brake at a stop light, the car starts running on two cylinders and, I can smell the unburnt gasoline. If I am at the stop light long enough it will smooth out.
CAN ANYONE HELP!!!

Sounds like your PCV valve is not hooked up.

Default black box

My pvc valve is hooked up in rubber hose between the intake manifold and the valve cover. The black box located under the intake has a rubber hose on the bottom connecting to the crank case next to the dipstick but, nothing connected to the top left and right ports of the black box.

Any chance you can get a picture of the "black box"?

Default black box

I have found out that the black box on my 1996 neon, is called a oil seperator. According to the book it was only 1995 models that had this. Since my car already had the pvc valve ran to the valve cover like a 1996 model, I just pluged the holes in the oil seperator. The pvc valve I found was also in backwards causeing more presure to blow oil out through the open holes in the oil seperator.

Default timeing belt 1996 neon

I have a 1996 neon I am replaceing the timeing belt. The mark stamped in the cam shaft gear is pointing down when I aligned the crank shaft marks up. The mark in the timeing belt cover is at the top 180 degrease out from where the cam mark is. Could this car be running 180 degrease out of time? Can anyone help?
