I have a 95 manual neon, and I have herd that you could use the transmissons off of other chrysler vehicles such as a PT Cruiser or the Avenger (correct me if i am wrong please) what i would like to know is when i go to my local Junk yard, or when im on craigslist.com what kind of cars and what year would their transmission fit my 95 neon? please and thank you to all your support.

 

The Neon's manual tranny is a NV-T350 (New Venture design) and is fundamentally common with the GM J-body line (Cavalier, Sunfire, etc.). It also comes in the Avenger (95-99 I think) as well, but I don't know about the PT cruiser. Keep in mind that other model car's trannies may be hydraulic, so you would have to swap the neon's bellhousing over to the tranny.

You can use the N/A PT Cruiser clutch as an upgrade over the neon's OEM clutch.

I would honestly look for a 95-99 Neon tranny, just to keep it simple.

 

If neon transmission are hard to find, the mtx in the 4cyl sebring, eclipse/talon, pt cruiser, 95-99 stratus and avenger can all be used in a neon. As Das warned, most of these models use a hydraulic bell housing. You will have to replace the hydraulic bell housing with a calbe bell housing to use in a neon. Also be aware that some of the or vehicles have different gear ratios than what you may be using in your neon now.

420A Sebring, 420A eclipse/talon, 420A avenger have the same mtx as a 1G r/t (3.94 .81 5th)

95-99 sohc 5sp stratus has a 1G r/t mtx (3.94 .81 5th)

n/a 5sp PT cruiser has 1G dohc mtx (3.94 .72 5th) NOTE: the PT mtx has a tranger transmission case and gears than the 1G dohc mtx
