Hedman/Chikara Header
Does anyone have this Header for the SOHC? What kind of gains did you get? Is your car any faster, and does it sound better? Also how hard was the install? I am also running an ATX and was wondering if the Header will increase performance to levels that could start to damage the Transaxle. (slipping, etc) Probably not though. Anyways Thanks for the Input.
Well I have the pacesetter on mine, I kinda noticed a difference from about 5500-6500 dosen't seem to fall on its face as much as it did with the manifold but I've only tested it with the header only. Haven't had time to put the rest of my exhaust on. If you put one of the headers on your going to need a welder, hacksaw and various sockets and wrenches (1/2, 7/8(for o2 sensor) 15mm 13mm 12mm and some others) or just have a muffler shop put it on for you but that could be spendy depending on what there hourly rate is. Took me about 5 hours to get it off/on but I wasen't busting my butt.
Hey 98Neon4Door will I need a welder, and Hacksaw to put in the Chikara header? Modernperformance says that it is a direct fit? Chikara Header Did you put a a gasket in when you installed the new header? I know that they didn't have one from the factory, but i have seen them advertised before? Thanks for the reply.

the chikara will show no gains over the stock manifold.
its a direct fit, meaning its the same length as stock and just bolts right in.
it may last longer than the stock exhaust manifold tho.
theres no header out there thatll provide gains beyond what the stock atx can handle. just try to choose a header thats appropriate to your price range and how much power youd like to gain.

I'd have to agree with slow on this one, if its the same lenght as your manifold I doubt you would notice any gain. you can go to www.sportcompactcarweb.com and check out the gains they got with the Kirk racing header. All the other shorty headers will have less of a gain over the kirk unit.
