Question 99' neon sport skipping in 1st gear?

This is a strange thing, I was driving and all the sudden the 1st gear started skipping like the cv axle was stripping out! I had this problem last year, but it was because of wore out motor and transmission mounts. I replaced and it stop skipping! Well this time mounts are in good condition. I took out the axles to check the splines for wear, but all looked good... Does anyone have a diagram of this trans, im thinking its in the trans and need try to understand why this is happening! If anyone has a clue why this is happening please help thanks, rmitch47

No not low on transmission fluid! Let me explain this clearer, when taking off it grinds then if i slow take foot off pedal and take it slow it wont grind! Is it possible it could be a bad torque converter? Thanks Rmith47
