96 Dodge neon no spark
alright soo heres whats going on, my friends sister's 96 dodge neon blew a timing belt soo her dad went and bought a low millage junkyard motor.
me and my friend have done a few engine replacements before but haven't really touched dodge's much but we pulled the old motor and then went to put the automatic transmission on the junkyard motor but realized that the intermediate shaft on the original transmission had alot of play, talked to the girls dad and he went out a bought a 97 dodge neon that blew a timing belt and needed a motor but had a good transmission.
we put in the new transmission from the 97 and then put the motor in hooked all the sensors back up but now were not getting any spark. swapped relays, cam possionting sensor checked fuses ect but still no spark. wee hooked up a test light to the coil wires and I'm getting power only to the center wire but nothing to the other wires.
soo then we decided to take it down to the local auto store since theyll let you use there code scanner for free, hooked it up and its only getting a code about torque converter lock up
sooo my questions are:
could the pcm have gone bad? and if it is would the one out of the 97 work?
could the code about the torque converter lock up be causing me not to get any spark?
I dont think its a bad distributor because its not getting any power to the 2 outside wires (the wires that give power to the cylinders) only power to the center wire from the battery and it pulsates when we crank it over with the test light in the center wire and we tried using the distributor off both of the other motors but still no spark
sorry for the long description but its the easiest way to explain the full story

im in pa
just been brainstorming and only thing i can think of is that when we were putting the junkyard motor in the crank possitioning sensor had a different connector so we put the one off the original 96 motor on it so that we could plug it in. could that cause this problem?
