Ok so my cousin and I got this genius idea that we want to turn my 99 neon into a drift car with a V8. Does anyone have any info on a good place to start. (Motor, tranny, rearend, etc.) any info would be awesome.

 

want some good info dont...waste of time...unless your willing to dump tons of money into a car your not going to get any of that money back...i like neons but its not even worth trying

 

Where to start? Budget, would be your first issue to consider. It won't be anywhere near cheap, plus you would need to have superior fab skills.

Start off by removing the engine, drive train, everything in the rear, then fab up a tube frame, (with rollbar)and custom suspension, add a 318 what ever trans (auto or manual)you like. add a 9" narrowed ford rearend, cut the rear fenders for tires, and leave the hood off or put a huge scoop on. maybe wheelie bars. Then all you do is nail the gas it should drift like crazy. I like it go for it. Or maybe get another car that already has what you want and paint a neon on it.
