Default SOHC Head Replacement

My son's Neon broke the timing belt and bent the valves. When this happens does it break the pistons? Can I just replace the head? Where can I get a new/rebuilt head?

depending on the RPM most of the time it does not crack the pistons and all you have to do is replace the valves. so possably take it to a shop to see if they can replace and redo the heads for cheaper than a new rebuilt one. otherwise I would check ebay or any pick and pull junkyard by your house

They also say not to shave the head to true it up once it's off but the shop that done the work on the head off of my sons 98 did have .010" before minimum dimension and that took out the slight warp on that head. Oh by the way I feel for ya.
