oil pressure gauge
What all do you need help with? One wire goes to power, one wire goes to the sensor (replaces the stock sensor), if it's a lighted gauge another wire will go to another power source. Did it come with instructions? What color are the wires? Brand?
it has five wires. two for the light. i already got those hooked up. there are 3 other ones for the gauge. i guessed that one was power becaust it had a + symbol. the other a ground. and one had a s which was prolly for sensor. Where is the sensor located at? i bought it off my friend b/c his neon blew a head gasket and he bought a truck, but he hadnt hooked them up yet. and the brand is vdo. so basically i need to know is where the oil sensor is. thanks radar.
I'm pretty sure the sensor is on the back of the block. At least thats where it is on my 2nd gen. If you're under your car facing forward, its on the left side of the block. Tahts on my 2nd gen remember...but probably in a similar spot if not the same one. Oil guage is pretty easy to install.
You can't use an oil pressure gauge with the stock oil pressure sender. You have to use an aftermarket sensor which should come with the gauge. The stock unit is only an on/off switch for the idiot light that comes on at 3 psi. You will not get a useable signal from it if you try to hook up the gauge. Ever.
Don't know if you could find just a sensor on ebay. Worth a shot though. Cheap gauges are under $20 that include the sensor, but it may or may not work with your gauge.

Don't go too cheap. My friend broke my the sender that came with my autometer guage...long story on that, don't ask. So we bought one of cheapo guages at pep boys for like 30 bucks or whatever and put that sender in there. The readings were off by quite a bit. I later replaced it with an autometer sender again and all the readings seemed to be much more accurate. So moral of the story...don't go too cheap or else there is no point to an oil guage cause its not even close.
