Been having some fun....
So I have to say I know the SOHC aren't super fast but I have been having some fun with mine. I love shifting into second and getting a full rotation spin lol, can't wait to mod or if I find about $3000 in a brown bag do a SRT swap and build that up. Right now I am looking for struts/shocks all the way around, if anyone has a set PM with prices/trades. Found a set of KYB G2's on eBay for $208 shipped still a little indecisive.
I put a set of GR-2's on my '98 DOHC, 2-DR, 5-sp about 30-40 K ago (currently 150,000 miles). While they aren't KONI's, they seem better than the current Monroe's or Gabriels the local part chians sell.
Being an Expresso (Plymouth), it had no rear sway bar, so I added a Eibach set. I also have run a set of Plymought Acclaim 15" BBS type aluminum wheels (195/50-15's) and an after marker set of aluminum wheels with 205/50-15 Falken Azenis.
I've run it at Summit Point Motorsports Park on the Jefferson ciruit While I was out pulled down the straights (stock motor w/an auto throttle body and shorty header) by 350Z's and WRX's, it was fun braking with then (got front discs with the original rear drums) into the turns and then pulling up even closer in the twisties.
But the most fun is doing our local autocrossing with Capital Driving Club and beating better and more expensive cars. Full interior, working A/C and it drives in snow 5-6 inches deep.
The only thing that has "broken" was the linkage on the drivers door latch came apart - due to a faulty, post accident repair just prior to my purchasing the car.
Have fun and good luck.

Thanks, and I have made some mistakes. Mine is actually a 1995 not a 1999 as stated in some other posts. I was an idiot and only checked the sticker on the door, which is from a 99 lol. Still a fun car just wish I had the money to do a SRT swap lol.
