[:@] alright my neons really p***in me off now.... it started to run like s*** again.... so i parked it in my yard.... so i thought to myself why dont i just fix up the entire car... right... the problem is that the motor doesnt feel like its got anything..... very slow reaction time from the motor... doesnt rev up fast... doesnt like to start... and when its running now the exhaust smells a little rich.. so wut could be the problem.... it just doesnt rev up fast.... it shifts nicely.... but in 3rd gear it wont go above 44mph.... the motor feels like its slowing down... i just need sum help... so ne would be nice

 

How many miles are on the motor? Is it burning oil? Have you done a tune up? Are there any codes? A lot more information would help.

 

yeah cuold be a head gasket or a ton of other things i really need more info.

 

ok its got 75k on it.... and its not burning oil..... it produced codes 13 - no change in MAP from start to run
43 - multiple/single cylinder misfires x2
54 - no cam signal at PCM x2
so this basically means i need a new cam sensor and various other parts huh.... i really screwed myself over this time huh... any other help would be really apreciated... thanx

 

Start by resetting the computer, get all the codes cleared, then start the car and let it run for about 5 minutes, run it through all the gears, and vary the rpm's. Then recheck for codes. This will give you the latest codes, and not older ones that may have been stored a long time ago.Is the output from the tailpipe strong, or does it feel weak? Might be a clogged cat.

 

Some sounds just like what mr340 said...maybe a plugged cat! That would cause odor and a much lack in power

 

clearing the codes and running the car is a good idea, but to get a good read, you have to let the PCM fully relearn, you will need to drive the car for about 30 miles to get it to relearn fully. With all those codes, I don't thing its just a clogged cat.

 

I don't think a clogged cat is the only problem, but it would contribute to the other codes. I still stand by my suggestion to clear all codes, and start fresh to get a true set of codes.

exhaust smell a little rich probibly because of no signal from the cam position sensor. I had 1 go and when it went the car would either run really rich or not at all, and when it ran it ran like it was a ford festiva running on 1 1/2 cyliders, lacking power like you wouldnt believe
