Safe Without Intercooler???
Hey I'm saving my money up to by a turbo kit, but i was wondering would anyone recomend not buying one without an intercooler? I mean i know it runs fine without one but, i do plan on upgrading to one afterwards but is it too dangerous to go without one for a few months?
Just spend the money and get it. If you can't afford it right this moment, save up. Yes, there are plenty of cars running around with intercoolers, typically older factory cars. They are also detuned a bit because of it. The intercooler will allow you to run at higher power more safely. Don't take my word for it though, head over to the neons.org Forced Induction boards and ask the guys who actually have turbos.
Best of luck!

From what I've heard, you can run a turbo on a stock engine without intercooler at NO HIGHER THAN 7 psi. If you want to run higher than that, you have to beef up the engine a bit and add an intercooler. Best of luck.
