Hi I have a 1996 Dodge Neon 2.0 sohc and we just bought it from a private owner and we got the car home looked it over more and found little stuff wrong. Went to get it registered and got that done. Put plates on drove 10 miles down the road and the Check Engine Light for a po171 code. (system to lean bank 1) Replace the old gas in the tank as it has been sitting. Has a new fuel pump in it, Put injection cleaner in it, fuel system cleaner and still keeps coming on. No signs of intake leak, as an aftermarket air filter sytems on it. This car is getting worse gas milage then my 97 Dakota with 5.2 liter in it!!!!!. Please help any ideas?

 

The Bank 1 code points to your upstream O2 sensor. Check the wiring and make sure the wiring is clean and not exposed. Might be time to replace it. I have one that is 3 months old for sale for $25 shipped.
