Default 97 Neon Hard Start

This has been a problem since I bought the car in November, but there's been a couple of times I thought the car wasn't going to start at all...so now I want to look into it.

The car has a hard time starting, only when the engine is cold. When it's warmed up, it's not a problem at all. Cranks over just fine, no weird noises, just doesn't start for 5-10 seconds. Plugs and wires have been replaced, so have all the vacuum hoses, and pcv valve (did all that when head gasket blew). I've even tried turning the key on for 5 seconds before starting, to see if it was fuel pressure, no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Try replacing the fuel pump fuse. I had the same issue and replacing what appeared to be a good fuse helped. If that doesn't correct the problem, you may want to test the fuel pressure to ensure it's 49 psi.

I will replace the fuse, and check the pressure...but but why would the pressure change if the car was warmed up vs cold? Wouldn't lack of pressure cause driving problems? And like I said, even if I turn the key on, but not start, for 5-10 seconds, it doesn't change a thing.

I would check pressure just to see if the fuel pump is good. You also wanna check all your grounds and make sure they are clean and tight.
