what does 5 flashes of the check engine light mean? i did the turn off and on thing and it flashed 3 times first then 5 times and repeated 5 times a couple of times. anyone know what the 5 flashes mean?

five flashes followed by another five flashes = code 55 = completion of fault code display on check engine lamp. this is the end of message code.

other code was 35= open or shorted condition detected in the radiator fan low speed relay circuit.

the flashes are all 2-digit codes set by the computer. There's a list here somewhere I'm sure, as well as just about any manual (Haynes, Chiltons) and also at www.troublecodes.net. They are jsut general codes for general troubleshooting. If you want a little more detail, an OBD-2 scanner will read the 4-digit (i.e. P0432) version which usually provides a little more detail.
