There are 2 connecters one is called c1 the other is called c2 and they are number 1- 40 C1 and 41-80 C2. The 1996 neons fan relay is ran through the C2 #55 connecter pin on the ecu and the 1997 dohc ecu runs the fan relay through the C1 #18 pin. All you have to do is pull the C2 connecter off of the ecu then take the back off then the front of the connecter also comes off you will see some number on there that's how you will know what pin is what find the # 55 pin pull it out from the back side it's just rubber in there so it will slip out, then cut the tape and shield back about 3-4 inches on the harness then do the same thing to the C1 connecter but instead of pulling a wire out you will slide that C2 wire into the #18 C1 connecter this is the fan relay fix put everthing back together and plug it in. Use a little tape to clean it up and there you go.
