Clutch Cable???
As i was leaving work, all of a sudden my clutch pedal felt soft. It is soft almost all the way down then the last 1-2 inches is where the clutch engages/disengages. Is this due to a stretched cable? or is there something else that would cause this? The shifting itself is fine, and there seems to be no clutch slippage. Only thing i noticed while driving home was the throwout bearing making a little noise unless i rested my toe on the clutch pedal.
You can shim the clutch cable at the trans with some washers just cut slits in them. Usually you wont just notice it get soft all of the sudden, it happens over time. I would check your hardware at the pedal, firewall, and trans. I would almost suspect a pressure plate issue since you notice the TB making noise all the sudden also.
I thought about trying to shim the cable, but it was also brought to my attention it could be the throwout bearing since its making noise all a sudden. I have a day off Wednesday so i am going to try the shimming, if thats unsuccessful i will probably just order a clutch kit and replace it all.
2 or maybe 3 washers will go a long way. Be sure to inspect the cables ends to make sure all the hardware is good to go. If the noise gets louder faster you may have a pressure plate giving out. That can leave you stranded.
