Hello,
I am a new member here, and I have a question about the AC in my Neon. It worked great until last summer, then it just started to blow hot air. I have tried twice to recharge it with no luck. Watching the AC compressor though, on highest setting, the clutch will not engage. All the AC fuses check out and I switched the relay with a known good one. What should I check next? Thank you in advance.

Did it hold the charge both times you recharge it?

If there's a leak and air is getting in the system, the pressure will get too high and the pressure switch will not let the clutch engage. Might try hooling up a pressure gauge to the system and getting those readings first.

After that, try replacing individual parts. Think I sold my compressor years ago for $20...

Best of luck!

You can buy either the refrigerant with a leak detector additive, or just the leak detector and add it to the system. Then use an ultraviolet light to check all the sealing points to see where the leak is coming from. I'm going through the same thing with my Ram right now...
