My 95 auto shifter broke off when I went to put her in park!! Well I am not really sure if "broke off" is correct. It was dark and I was so pissed off I had to walk away...Basically the whole entire shifter came off in my hand. It does not really look like it's broken at the end if it is it was a clean break. It was followed by a spring and a pin in a T or L shape near the bottom of the shifter which is intact. I have pix but not sure if I can post them being new and all...

Anyone have this happen,or know how to get all the center console out so I can take a look at the damage and or fix her up? I am new here but I would greatly appreciate it for ANY advice etc.

Screws in and around the cup holders (may be little plastic tabs you pop out to see them), screws in the center console armrest. Pictures would help, been a while since I seen an auto shifter assembly.

 

I got it done! Console out, shifter did break! So I guess that is a linkage\bracket? A new shifter and I am all set!

 

I guess if I could see a automatic transmission shifter diagram for a 95 dodge neon...Cause I am not sure what this part is called that the shifter goes down into? I know it has 4 small screws that takes it off lol...I guess a picture would help? LOL But I am so new will it allow me to post pics on here?

 

Take what you need to the nearest junk yard and say "I need this". They should get you fixed up for a good price.

 

can you buy a new shifter asm still for 95 neon.my shifter white plastic piece with metal ball on end split in 2 last week.so shifter was stuck in park would not move.you remove plunger asm with allen screw on side and pull of shifter,you see end of shaft and plastic bearing.if plunger asm is still good(the part you push in with finger)you have to replace plastic bearing,if can find or can get off shaft whitch seems impossible like it pressed on.then you will need new or used complete shifter columm.i drilled hole thru top hand grip put metal piece thru to metal shaft so can push it dwn to start car,so far works good.
