Ok guys need some help. Alternator went out yesterday and the car is in a parking lot. I need to be able to change it in the parking lot and drive home because it's a few hrs away and I'm not paying towing if I can get it done right there. Car is a 97 dohc atx. I haven't really looked at it so I'm wondering how to get it out and what tools I'll need. From what I seen u take the splash sheild off and it comes out through the bottom. Any help would be appreciated

Yea its a pain to do. I just did one on my srt-4 and that sucked.
Disconnect battery negative cable.
Loosen but DO NOT remove the generator adjustment nut.
Raise vehicle with front wheels turned fully to the right.
Remove the plastic lower splash shield.
Disconnect the generator field circuit wiring connector. Push the RED locking tab to release.
Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
Loosen pivot bolt, but do not remove.
Remove the generator drive belt. The generator spill shield does not need to be removed.
Remove three mounting pivot bracket bolts.
Remove pivot bolt and bracket.
Holding the generator in one hand, remove adjustment nut and slide the generator off the T-bolt. The T-bolt does not need to be removed.
Lower the generator and remove through the wheel well.
