Default Selling my 1995 Neon

Well, it has been a good run, but I finally decided to sell my 1995 neon. Why?

It is a 5 speed, so I am getting tired of all the shifting in traffic (95% of my driving is during rush hours). #1 reason. My arthritis is getting worse, and some days (especially cold ones) it gets harder and harder to do it.

My youngest daughter will need a car in 1 1/2 years, and she won't be able to drive a stick (I will not teach someone to drive and shift at the same time).

I cannot afford 4 cars, and I just bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla yesterday that will be my new DD. It will become my daughters' car later on. At that point, my eldest daughter will be on her own dime, and I can get the truck I have always wanted.

There is a law of diminishing return. The car needs more time and maintenance then I have available to me now. The money I put into it now becomes less and less worth it over time.

The car needs new valve stem seals, and I just don't want to do it. I am not tearing it apart again.

Basically, it just needs to go and if I cannot sell it, then I will donate it to the Downtown Rescue Mission in Huntsville, AL and get a tax write off percentage for whatever it sells for. I do not want to scrap it. It is just to nice overall to do that and I hate to see a perfectly good car go to waste! Someone wanting to turn it into a true pocket rocket and/or looking for a project car will love it! If you read below, you will see why.

I have not yet advertised it anywhere, and while it was a 4DR base model, I changed it a lot over time on the inside. It will come with almost brand new 80000 mile Kumho Solas 21 tires, freshly redone front brakes (turned rotors and new pads), brand new timing belt with fresh front seals (just done), new car front motor mount, the motor was bored 50 thousanths over when it was completely rebuilt at 157K (206K now). The instrument cluster was replaced with one that has a tachometer and was reflowed before it was put in - works perfectly. The fuel pump assembly was replaced about 20K ago, and at the same time, I replaced the external fuel filter. I completely cleaned out the tank at that time too. Brand new windshield, updated interior with split folddown seats, lighted vanity visors, map lights on rear mirror, remote trunk release, light in glove box, full trunk dress kit, CD player radio with removable faceplate and it has an aux input for ipods/mp3 players, etc. I put a new headliner in, and last but not least, a trunk light. None of this came with the original car. The AC is cold and works great! The heater is a friggin barbeque and unless you live in antartica, you will never be cold!

The red paint is truly awful - and it has hail damage in several places. So on the outside, it looks like crap (quite frankly), but absolutely no rust anywhere and is solid with no leaks. All of this can be fixed, but it was my DD, not a show pony for me. The rims are the standard 4 bolt 13" rims, nothing special. The guy who owned it before me put on performance struts, and while it makes for a really good and tight driving experience, the overall ride is bumpy. I decided not to replace them with OEM as it was a DD, and the cost was too much for me to fool with.

I have loved this car, now I want someone else to. PM me and I will send you pictures if you like. I have not decided on a price, but I know it won't sell for a lot. The money I put into it was for my needs/pleasure, and I don't expect to recoup it. I just want someone to take it who will keep it on the road, not junk it. I could part it out and make money, but that also takes my time and effort too, and I don't have it to spare right now.

Every part I have for this car, the repair manual, and extra spare tire will go with the car too.
