Had a bleed down compression check done. Cylinderss 1,3,4 shows 135psi with no bleed down at all. Number 2 cylinder showed 125psi and bled down to 60psi
A bleed down compression test? Curious as to how this is done never heard of it. The compression numbers are pretty low all around. I would throw some oil in the cylinder and retest and see if the numbers rise. IF they dont I bet its valve seals. Usually a bent valve will have very low compression and fail a leak down test. Was the compression done on a cold motor, with the gas pedal to the floor, and the fuel system shut off?
No check engine light for the cam sensor. Checked timing too. No problem there. It very well could be the valve seals. It still means a valve job though
Yea but to make sure its not the lower end you need to put oil in the cylinders and retest or use a leak down test. It could be piston rings or an issue with a piston itself.
If you test the compression, then add oil and test again, the compression should change. If the numbers rise then the piston rings have blow by. If the numbers do not rise its the top end (valves, head headgasket, and so on). The numbers may go from lets say 120psi to 135psi when adding oil still means there is an issue in the top end. Some blow by is normal. The numbers should go up at least 20-25psi if the issue is in the lower end. Be sure you have the fuel shut off.
I've been having miss fire code all the time. Have done just about everything with no result. The last thing I'm told is it is possibly a head gasket leak that is causing the codes. No issues at idle, car runs strong but I believe the gas mileage is suffering. I get it through inspection by driving it easy after clearing the codes. Indicator goes green and a sticker gets slapped on. Still would like to fix the issue. Any definitive way to point to the head gasket?
