1996 Dodge Neon
I am racing a 96 Neon on a half mile asphalt oval track, it seems like I am needing more gear off of the corner it is a standard shift 5 speed tranny and I am running in 3rd gear. I am needing to know how to check what gear is in this tranny maybe by numbers and if there is anywhere I could buy a lower final drive gear? This car is a DOHC motor

if the car is not and r/t then more then likely you have the regular SOHC transmission. Which has "taller" gearing for better gas mileage on the highway. The shorter geared tranny will be found in 98-99 neon r/ts.
Have you considered different size rims or tires to help with the gearing also? Maybe a taller rev limiter?
