I have a 1999 Dodge neon, 5speed, 2.0 SOHC and last October I had took it to the shop to have my rear main seal replaced. Ever since then my speedometer and odometer stopped working. I've replaced speed sensor and the gauge cluster is brand new and same issues continue. These neons are not cable operated for the cluster, as far as iI know. Any ideas, please!
i had same problem...it was sensor in tranny..never usually cluster...or brain...dont waste your money...check fuses first...im looking for a 96-97 neon manual tran. if neone knows anyone!!!
I would pull the speed sensor off and see if the gear is still on there.
The gear was missing. I got a new one, put it on and now my speedometer works. Sometimes the needle will start bouncing around and quit working then It'll start working again after a minute. Now my odometer still does not work.

Odometer is driven by the gear as well. The MTX and ATX gears are different. The MTX one is longer if I remember correctly. Not sure if that is the issue but an idea to follow up on.
