Default Strange current drain

Working on my daughter-in-law's '95 Neon and there is a 190 milli-amp drain on the battery with everything off in the car. I removed the ground lead from the battery and put the ammeter between that cable and the negative lead of the battery. Is that 190 mah drain about normal??

The radio had been installed by, politely, someone that had no clue what they were doing. No plugs, connectors, or solder were used. It was *all* twist the wires together and put electrical tape on the connections. Since the tape had fallen off several connectors I thought I had a ground path, but that wasn't the case. Darn. I rewired the radio so it's good now.

If I take out Fuse #7 in the engine compartment power distribution panel, the battery drain falls to zero. This is the fuse for all interior lights, instrument cluster, "time delay relays", and the radio.

I have the 190 mah drain with the radio unplugged and sitting on the work bench. That doesn't appear to be the problem.

This is a simple Neon, it doesn't appear to have the Remote Keyless Entry thingy, vanity lights, or other options. Unless all Neons have the Keyless lump in there somewhere.

Suggestions??

Thanks,
Mike

Default Did you figure it out?

Did you ever figure out the problem? My 2000 has something draining the battery and we haven't been able to figure it out.
